After seven years of success in Colombia, the Somos Tesoro project celebrated its conclusion with a webinar to present its work mobilizing diverse stakeholders in formalizing mining activities and stopping child labor. This webinar features the voices of artisanal mining communities, companies and national authorities who have participated in the project.
El presente estudio pretende aportar a la comprensión sobre las desigualdades de género en la minería artesanal y de pequeña escala a través de los pensamientos, visiones y percepciones de mineros y mineras sobre estas; así como analizar desde un enfoque de género las normativas y políticas públicas aplicables al sector minero.
Esta cartilla fue concebida como instrumento práctico y didáctico para que las empresas comercializadoras y demás actores de la cadena de suministro de minerales conozcan la ruta mediante la cual se identifiquen y mitiguen los riesgos, a la vez que se promueva la llegada de este mineral a los mercados internacionales de una manera legítima.
This book presents the results of the study 'New Approaches for Improving the Development Outcomes of the Extractive Industry in Peru: Improving Impacts on Women in Poverty and Their Families.'
To support ministries of health develop their detailed public health strategies for inclusion in ASGM National Action Plans (NAP), WHO, in collaboration with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, developed a research approach. The approach was pilot tested in three African countries in the process of developing a NAP. The evidence collected and the recommendations that emerged by applying the research approach guided ministries of health and other stakeholders in developing the public health strategies. This document is also available in French, Spanish and Portuguese.
