On 30 June 2026, The planetGOLD Zambia Project convened its Second Quarter National Advisory Committee (NAC) Review Meeting, bringing together key stakeholders to review implementation progress, assess resolutions from the previous quarter and provide strategic direction for activities supporting the formalisation of Zambia's Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) sector.

The planetGOLD Zambia Project has reached a major milestone towards establishing centralized Mercury-free Processing Systems (MFPS) pilot sites (Chisamba and Mpika) for Zambia's Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) sector following a technical visit to Appropriate Processing Technologies (APT) in South Africa to assess the equipment.

On 28th July 2026, the planetGOLD Zambia Project launched its Contextual Study Report on Zambia's Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) Sector, presenting comprehensive findings from research conducted across six ASGM sites in Mpika, Mumbwa, Chisamba, Vubwi, Lusanganzi and Rufunsa. The sites were selected to capture the diverse operational realities and community dynamics that characterise the country's ASGM sector.

In Ghana, artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) provides jobs for over one million people, but many miners work informally and face challenges such as limited access to finance, unfair markets, and environmental damage caused by deforestation, water pollution, and mercury use. planetGOLD Guinée a organisé un atelier de restitution consacré à la formation sur le diagnostic des intoxications liées au mercure et aux actions de sensibilisation menées dans dix communautés de Kouroussa, Mandiana et Siguiri. Le 30 juin 2026 à Conakry, la Guinée a validé la Stratégie nationale d’inclusion financière des Exploitations Minières Artisanales et à Petite Échelle (EMAPE), lors d’un atelier national organisé par le projet planetGOLD Guinée, mis en œuvre par le CASE. Cette stratégie vise à faciliter l’accès des acteurs de l’EMAPE aux services financiers adaptés, à renforcer la formalisation du secteur et à promouvoir des pratiques minières plus responsables, inclusives et durables.
