This research shows women actively migrate to mining centers in DRC seeking employment. However, this relocation brings vulnerability to physical, sexual and economic predation. Programs should help promote women's access to safe and equitable employment in these areas.

This study of mercury levels in women from four Latin American communities is the latest compilation of data in IPEN’s global mercury biomonitoring program. Hair samples were taken from women living in or near the mining towns of Vila Nova, Brazil, El Callao, Venezuela, Íquira, Colombia, and two groups living in Bolvia's Beni river system.
The document shows the gender gaps in artisanal and small-scale mining in Peru and provides recommendations for the development of an action plan with a gender approach that promotes equal rights and opportunities in the sector. También disponible en español.

This report examines how women and gender equality considerations are included in National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), the principal mechanisms for implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) at national level. Included in this study are 254 NBSAPs from 174 countries over 23 years of implementation (1993 through May of 2016).
