The planetGOLD Ghana project organised a one-day training on the CRAFT Code for selected stakeholders and members of the Project Management Unit.

In a significant step towards responsible artisanal gold mining, the planetGOLD Uganda project hosted its annual stakeholders meeting in November, under the theme, “Building Uganda’s mercury-free artisanal gold mining sector.”

La minería artesanal y de pequeña escala (MAPE) es una fuente importante de empleo en el Perú. Se estima que alrededor de 300 mil personas se dedican a esta labor en las 25 regiones del país. Sin embargo, según el “Informe de Empleo” del Ministerio de Energía y Minas (MINEM), la participación de la mujer en este estrato es apenas de 9.62%, lo cual evidencia el predominio masculino en la actividad.

Artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) is a significant source of employment in Peru. It is estimated that around 300 thousand people are engaged in this work across the country's 25 regions. However, according to the "Employment Report" from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), women's participation in this sector is only 9.62%, highlighting the predominant male presence in the activity.

Including the active intervention of the planetGOLD Mongolia project, the ASM regulation was amended and ratified in 2022, providing relief to artisanal miners in Mongolia.

The two-day training session covered modules and hands-on workshops addressing first aid, basic life support, emergency care, and specific scenarios related to mining activities. The initiative aims to prioritize the safety of small-scale miners, fostering a more prepared and resilient community capable of responding to emergencies and disasters in mining areas.
