In Peru, gravimetric plants are inaugurated for the production of gold without mercury in the small mining industry of Ananea-Puno.

The planetGOLD Annual Programme Meeting 2024 in the Philippines brought together global stakeholders to share best practices and advance mercury-free mining, highlighting the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable gold mining practices.

The 2024 planetGOLD Global Forum, held from June 3-5 in Batangas, Philippines, gathered international stakeholders to address challenges and opportunities in artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM). The forum, marking its return to an in-person format, focused on promoting mercury-free technologies, financial accessibility, and sustainable practices, culminating in collaborative workshops and regional networking to advance responsible mining practices.

The planetGOLD Mongolia and the AGC team, the project's executing agency, delivered presentations and moderated sessions on "Financing Models in planetGOLD Countries", "Miners Fireside Chat", "Technology Fair", and "ASGM Capitalization – Financiers' Perspectives", highlighting project outcomes and lessons learned.

Today the GEF-funded planetGOLD programme kicked off its flagship knowledge sharing event, the 2024 Global Forum on Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM), in the Batangas municipality of the Philippines. Bringing together roughly 200 key partners and stakeholders from across the globe, the ultimate goal of this knowledge exchange taking place from June 3-5 is to spur action toward advancing a mercury-free, responsibly managed ASGM sector.

El programa planetGOLD, financiado por el FMAM, ha dado hoy el pistoletazo de salida a su principal evento de intercambio de conocimientos, el Foro Global 2024 sobre la minería de oro artesanal y de pequeña escala (MAPE), en el municipio filipino de Batangas. El objetivo último de este intercambio de conocimientos, que se celebrará del 3 al 5 de junio y reunirá a unos 200 socios y partes interesadas de todo el mundo, es impulsar medidas para avanzar hacia un sector de la MAPE libre de mercurio y gestionado de forma responsable.

Le programme planetGOLD, financé par le FEM, a donné aujourd'hui le coup d'envoi de son événement phare de partage des connaissances, le Forum Mondial 2024 sur l'extraction minière artisanale et à petite échelle de l'or (EMAPE), dans la municipalité de Batangas, aux Philippines. Réunissant environ 200 partenaires et parties prenantes clés du monde entier, l'objectif ultime de cet échange de connaissances qui se déroule du 3 au 5 juin est de stimuler les actions visant à faire progresser un secteur de l'EMAPE sans mercure et géré de manière responsable.

The Artisanal Gold Council Philippines, through the planetGOLD project, participated in the 17th OECD Forum in Paris, gaining insights into improving artisanal and small-scale gold mining. Key highlights included sharing experiences on the CRAFT Code and exploring ways to enhance miners' access to finance and formal markets.

The GEF-funded planetGOLD Ghana project has organised series of dialogue sessions with key stakeholders and Artisanal Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM) value chain actors on mercury free gold processing technologies.

To gain firsthand insights into artisanal and small-scale gold mining, Uganda government officials, alongside representatives from various stakeholders, embarked on a field visit to the Kayonza Mine Site.

The contest "Expedición Mercurio" aimed at secondary school students, was held in regions with artisanal and small-scale gold mining activities, including Arequipa, Piura, and Puno.
