ULAANBAATAR, MONGOLIA – After six years of dedicated work, the planetGOLD Mongolia project officially concludes, celebrating significant strides toward mercury-free, formalized, and inclusive artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM). The closing event, held on May 20, 2025, in Ulaanbaatar, brought together 53 government officials, international development partners, artisanal miners and community leaders from the targeted provinces of Gobi-Altai, Khovd, and Selenge, to reflect on progress and chart the path ahead.

After six years, the planetGOLD Mongolia project officially concludes, marking a significant milestone in eliminating mercury use in Mongolia’s artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sector.

C’était une traversée humaine, un voyage au cœur de la Côte d’Ivoire profonde, là où les traditions parlent encore plus fort que les mots écrits.

planetGOLD Uganda recently partnered with the Department of Mines to train 22 police officers from the Police Minerals Protection Unit, a division under the Uganda Police Force. This police unit works to protect minerals, enforce mining regulations, and ensure compliance with the Mining & Minerals Act while collaborating with local governments to sensitize communities on safe mining practices.

To improve safety in the artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sector, the planetGOLD Philippines and partners conducted a five-day Mine Rescue and Safety Training for miners of the Northern Sagada Barangay Small Scale Mining Association (NSBSSMAI). The training equipped 48 participants with life-saving skills, emergency response knowledge, and hands-on experience using safety gear donated by the Project.

La Escuela de Gestión Pública Plurinacional (EGPP), en alianza con el Ministerio de Minería y Metalurgia, SBGI Iniciativa Suiza Oro Responsable y el programa planetGOLD Bolivia, presenta un curso virtual de 60 horas académicas sobre la Consulta Previa Libre e Informada (CPLI) en el ámbito minero en Bolivia.
