In October 2024, the planetGOLD Philippines Project, successfully conducted a series of Provincial/City Mining Regulatory Board (P/CMRB) Workshops across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to strengthen support for the formalization of the ASGM sector. These sessions provided Local Government Units and Mines Geosciences Bureau Regional Offices with essential knowledge on Minahang Bayan declaration, small-scale mining registration and licensing, and policy implementation under DAO 2022-03. Through expert-led discussions and knowledge-sharing, the workshop reinforced the role of local stakeholders in ensuring responsible ASGM practices.

Artisanal Small-scale Miners urged to engage in responsible mining practices and to adopt mercury free gold processing technologies. This advice was given by Dr Ishmael Qauicoe, lecturer at the University of Mines and Technology during the awareness creation workshop for miners in the Ashanti Region.

An inception workshop for the planetGOLD Zambia project was held on November 12, 2024, in Lusaka bringing together key stakeholders of the Zambian artisanal gold mining sector including the government organizations, civil society organizations, academia, and private sector to introduce the project and its priorities. The project plans to support over 11,000 men and women in the country and reduce mercury use by 1.14 metric tonnes over five years.

Après trois mois de suspension en raison des fortes pluies, les activités d'orpaillage ont repris en Guinée sous l'autorité des ministères concernés. Deux types d'exploitation sont observés : artisanale classique et mécanisée, cette dernière étant illégale selon le code minier guinéen. Encourager l'exploitation mécanisée illégale nuit à l'État en réduisant les demandes de permis semi-industriels et en enrichissant des individus au détriment de la fiscalité. Il est donc urgent de réguler strictement cette pratique et d'encourager les exploitants à demander des permis industriels.

En Guinée, l'exploitation minière artisanale expose les enfants à des dangers graves, y compris des accidents mortels. Le projet planetGOLD Guinée œuvre pour sensibiliser et protéger les enfants en interdisant leur travail dans les mines et en promouvant des pratiques sécuritaires.

Le 24 octobre 2024, s’est tenu à Yamoussoukro un atelier d’information et de renforcement des capacités à destination du corps préfectoral et d’acteurs clés de l’administration publique. Organisé sous l'égide du ministère de l’Environnement, du Développement Durable et de la Transition Écologique, cet atelier avait pour objectif de sensibiliser les autorités locales et administratives sur les enjeux du projet planetGOLD Côte d'Ivoire.
