IMPACT a mené une étude socio-environnementale pour connaître l’état des écosystèmes dans les zones d’intervention du projet et examiner comment ces régions sont touchées par les changements climatiques et l’exploitation minière. Les recommandations qui en découlent serviront à déterminer les moyens les plus efficaces et durables de favoriser la restauration et l’adaptation des écosystèmes, tout en aidant les populations à faire face aux répercussions de l’exploitation minière.
DiliCHANCE is an international project funded by the European Commission. It was launched in October 2024 and will be active for three years. It brings together highly experienced partners from business, science and civil society. DiliCHANCE features over 200 digital tools, regulations and standards on its website.

The study focuses on an alternative to the miners processing ore themselves; instead small miners sell their ore to plants employing larger-scale, mercury-free technologies that also raise gold yields. Taking an interesting lens the researchers assessed the ore-selling preferences of female waste-rock collectors (jancheras) in Ecuador, using a discrete-choice experiment.
This report demonstrates how the financial sector is highly exposed to illicit gold. The report asks that banks, commodity traders and others in this supply chain treat gold supply chain due diligence as a core compliance obligation.
