    "Choosing to Challenge" Gender Inequity in ASGM

    Improving the artisanal and small-scale mining sector through due diligence: the CRAFT Code

    The Code of Risk-mitigation for ASM engaging in Formal Trade (CRAFT) is newly revised with improvements incorporated and a renewed structure to make it easier to read the standard. Natalia Uribe from the Alliance for Responsible Mining gives an overview of the key changes that have been made, and writes that the set of criteria planetGOLD is creating aligning with the standard follows CRAFT's intention to facilitate the application of the OECD Due Diligence Guide in the ASM sector.

    Building Capacity for 300 Miners in Ecuador

    The planetGOLD partner project in Ecuador along with the Ministry of Environment and Water, UNDP, the Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources, IIGE, and the Central Bank of Ecuador are embarking on a new training workshop to help refresh technical knowledge and focus on developing methodologies and strategies to train more than 300 artisanal miners located in Camilo Ponce Enriquez, Zaruma-Portovelo and Chinapintza in 2021.
