This slide deck was presented during a April 2024 webinar for planetGOLD national projects giving an overview of Stakeholder Engagement & Shared Visioning for Coalition Building. It is the third in a series of webinars on Jurisdictional Approach (JA) / Landscape Approach (LA).

The importance of partnership in bringing about effective landscape stewardship warrants careful examination of characteristics of good partnerships and effective ways of building them. This chapter contributes to that task by drawing upon pertinent literature and empirical evidence from landscape initiatives to characterise the main elements of a partnership for landscape stewardship and put forward a framework to aid in designing effective partnerships.

A presentation conducted by the planetGOLD Colombia project team and Alliance for Responsible Mining focused on the implementation of the planetGOLD Critiera and CRAFT Code while working with a small-scale mining operation. This study explores the factors that hinder the implementation of its legal framework for mining. A combination of qualitative explorative methods was applied, including an innovative tool called “Process Net-Map”, a visual participatory mapping technique. The results help to explain the governance challenges of the ASM sector, enabling identification of policy reform options to address them.
