Como parte de las acciones del Ministerio del Ambiente (MINAM) para reducir los riesgos por mercurio en el sector de minería de oro artesanal y de pequeña escala en el país, se realizó el Taller de Inicio del proyecto “Gestión Integrada del Mercurio en la Minería de oro Artesanal y de Pequeña escala (MAPE) en el Perú– planetGOLD Perú”

Today the inception workshop of the planetGOLD Peru project “Integrated Mercury Management in Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining in Peru” was implemented by Peru's Ministry of the Environment (MINAM) in partnership with Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), with technical support from the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

Se realizó el taller de inicio del proyecto planetGOLD Perú “Gestión Integrada del Mercurio en la Minería de Oro Artesanal y de Pequeña Escala en el Perú” implementada por el MINAM en alianza con el MINEM, con el apoyo técnico del PNUD y el GEF. El programa planetGOLD tiene como objetivo reducir y/o eliminar las emisiones y liberaciones de mercurio del sector de minería de oro artesanal y de pequeña escala.

L'Organisation des Nations Unies pour le développement industriel (ONUDI) va mettre en oeuvre un projet pour éliminer le mercure et améliorer la chaine d’approvisionnement dans le secteur artisanal d’exploitation minière et à petite échelle de l’or au Burkina Faso.

This press release announcing the launch of the GEF GOLD (now called planetGOLD) programme emphasizes the urgent action that is needed to reform the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASGM) sector and protect millions of men, women and children exposed to toxic levels of mercury through gold production every year.

El proyecto planetGOLD Paraguay ya se han logrado avances que respaldan la implementación del proyecto. Durante jornadas de trabajo en el distrito de Paso Yobái, técnicos del Ministerio del Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible (MADES) destacaron que “por primera vez se cuenta con datos sistematizados sobre la presencia de mercurio en la zona de Paso Yobái”, lo que permite orientar mejor las acciones futuras.

En el marco de la reunión del Consejo Mundial de Bancos Centrales sobre minería artesanal y de pequeña escala, Ecuador presentó sus avances en la transición hacia una minería más responsable, libre de mercurio. La participación del país fue posible gracias a la invitación del Banco Central del Ecuador, aliado estratégico del proyecto planetGOLD.

The planetGOLD Zambia project engaged a team of researchers to support a nationwide update of baseline data on, mercury use, environmental impacts, and the current state of Zambia’s artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sector.
