This report summarizes the clean technology transfer activities and strategies undertaken by the planetGOLD Colombia project

This guide offers a detailed look at the fundamental aspect of gravity separation, from the installation and operations of plants to the operational management and safe equipment use. Additionally, it addresses the physical properties of gold that make gravity separation effective, describes the technology used in each phase of the recovery circuit and details the ideal conditions of the ore before the mixing stage. The aim of this guide is to empower artisanal and small-scale miners, facilitating access to a cleaner, more profitable, and environmentally responsible form of mining. This is an approved translation of the original guide published in Spanish.

Consistent with project objectives to promote the elimination of mercury use in the ASGM sector, the planetGOLD Guyana project’s technology transfer approach included both demonstration of prospecting and exploration technologies for ASGM and establishing mercury-free demonstration sites. This report summarizes the technology transfer activities undertaken by the planetGOLD Guyana project.

The planetGOLD Guyana project is assisting artisanal and small-scale gold mining communities implement mercury-free technologies that also increase yield and profits. This video demonstrates the use of three types of equipment that concentrate gold from alluvial deposits without using mercury - the gold kacha, gold cube, and blue bowl. The devices can be used in combination with each other and with other equipment to create an efficient and mercury-free gold recovery process.

The first planetGOLD Technology without Mercury virtual exhibit took place October 6-7 2021. This resource offers all presentations however, because certain presentations included audio, all recordings of both days can be found on the planetGOLD event page. 

This guidebook and toolkit have been designed to assist governments, civil-society organizations, and the private sector of countries in preparing a National Action Plan for reducing mercury use in artisanal and small-scale gold mining

This guide describes the principals of reducing and eliminating mercury use in ASGM in an accessible manner. Featuring many photographs of ASGM equipment and techniques, the document explains the importance of milling and concentration, as well as other covering other topics such as retorts and tailings. 

This manual provides training strategies for people teaching artisanal miners and their families both health-related and technical information and skills. This includes peer-educators, technical experts with little or no teaching experience, as well as those accustomed to teaching in academic settings.

This report summarizes the activities and results of the project Developing Training Materials to Promote the Reduction of Mercury Use in Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining. Overall, the project sought to produce a business training module based on leading global practice in ASGM and designed to promote Minamata Convention compliance. This project is intended to enhance coordination among ASGM education programs throughout the APEC region in support of domestic and international mercury reduction efforts.
