Health Effects of Exposure to Mercury

As part of the health campaign “Working Together Toward Healthier Gold Communities,” planetGOLD Suriname, in collaboration with Medische Zending Primary Health Care Suriname (MZPHCS), developed this story-based visual to raise awareness about the potential health effects of mercury exposure.

The visual highlights how mercury can affect different parts of the body and may cause serious health problems, particularly after repeated or prolonged exposure. Through clear illustrations and accessible messages, the material helps gold mining communities recognize the risks and understand the importance of preventing and reducing mercury exposure.
