It was emphasized that both parties must continue to maintain a shared and clear vision, working in a complementary manner and providing guidance and adjustments where necessary to effectively achieve project objectives. The Commission will play a strengthened role in stakeholder coordination. The meeting concluded with a shared understanding that enhanced collaboration, clear communication, and structured stakeholder engagement are essential for the continued implementation of the project. The planetGOLD Suriname Project is implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of Natural Resources, in collaboration with UNDP and national partners. The project focuses on improving practices within the small-scale gold mining sector, aiming to reduce the use of mercury in line with the Minamata Convention. It is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and contributes to more responsible natural resource management and sustainable development in Suriname.
