Online voting is now closed
Round 1 of voting for the 2024 Global Forum on ASGM photo contest took place online from the 9th of May to the 23rd of May 2024, and was open to anyone.
Five finalist photos from round 1 will be printed and displayed at the Global Forum on ASGM event in the Philippines.
The final round of voting will take place in person on the 3rd of June in the Exhibit Area at the Club Balai Isabel, where attendees will view the 5 finalist photos and cast their vote for the winning photo. The winning photo will be announced at the close of events for the first day of the Global Forum on ASGM, on Monday, 3 June 2024.

Guidelines:
- Photo entries should depict efforts to reduce/eliminate mercury in ASGM and to advance a more responsible, professional ASGM sector.
- Entries should avoid reinforcing negative stereotypes about the ASGM sector or the people who work in it.
- Entries should maintain the dignity and agency of any individuals portrayed.
- The photo must be an original photograph taken by the participant. AI-generated images will not be accepted as a valid entry.
- Photos should have been taken between January 2019-present.
- If a photograph features the face of a real person, the author must provide documentation proving that the portrayed person has authorized the use of their image for noncommercial purposes.
- The photo must respect UN values and must not contain obscene, defamatory, profane, libelous, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, provocative or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content, which would violate applicable laws and regulations, including on data protection, privacy, other rights of any individual or entity.
- By participating in the contest, the participant acknowledges and confirms that the submitted photo does not infringe on applicable laws and regulations, including data protection law, rights of privacy, the copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity or any other intellectual property rights and other rights of any person or entity and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the submitted photo.
- The planetGOLD global project reserves the right to reject any content that it considers unacceptable or inappropriate.
- By participating in this contest, participants agree that the planetGOLD global project will keep digital copies of their photos and will publish them with photo credit on the planetGOLD programme website, social media accounts, and any other platform deemed appropriate.
Eligible Entrants:
- Any participant who will attend the 2024 Global Forum on ASGM event in the Philippines was eligible to enter the photo contest.
- Representatives of planetGOLD project teams or project beneficiaries who are not attending the 2024 Global Forum on ASGM event in person were also eligible to enter.
