Using the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High Risk Areas, this series of assessments on Colombian gold supply chains analyses the conditions of mineral extraction and related risks in Colombia as a whole and by region.
After seven years of success in Colombia, the Somos Tesoro project celebrated its conclusion with a webinar to present its work mobilizing diverse stakeholders in formalizing mining activities and stopping child labor. The liquidity crisis affecting artisanal gold mining communities around the globe has the potential to turn into a humanitarian crisis. As miners’ ability to sell their gold for cash deteriorates, the growing concern is that miners will be left with gold in their pockets but no food on the table. The most at risk are those rural and isolated communities whose economies are almost entirely dependent on gold, such as Choco, Colombia.

En el presente documento observarán equipos y recomendaciones para el beneficio del oro, paso a paso desde la llegada del mineral a la planta de procesamiento hasta la fundición. Se presentarán cuatro casos relevantes a nivel nacional, en la minería artesanal libre de mercurio.
